Yesterday, On BNET Radio Shelly Lares mention all the ladies that have Paved the way for Tejano Music. She had a fair group of ladies, But she left out La mera, mera "Linda Escobar".
Linda should of been at the top of her list! Do you Agree?
Do you think Linda Escobar paved the way for Tejano Music?
I think you all misunderstood Shelly's answer. Shelly was making reference to Progresive Tejano Music and not Conjunto Music. As far as I can remember, Linda has always played Conjunto Music. Now, if you were` to ask Shelly regarding Conjunto, I'm sure she would without fail mention Linda as one of the greatest.
I don't think some of you guys may be familiar with some of the history of Tejano and Conjunto Music. Throughout the years, there have been several ladies that have contibuted to both genres. Names such Lydia Mendoza and Eva Ybarra, whom is an excellent accordion player. Both ladies and Linda have not paved the road, but have contributed to carrying on our tradition of Conjunto. Once again, my respects to all.
Hey Look "Sunny" no dissrespect but claiming that some of us dont know our history is kinda foolish. Alot of People on here on Musicans. We all have our opions and please respect that,
Fresno Dude, I here you man. But, you know as well as I do, true musicians don't trash other musicians. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that Bro. But, credit should be given where it is due and what was said is.... I guess just innacurate. No disrespect to nobody.
Hey Sunny, I'm sorry that my question has upset you. I was just doing a poll (for my own purpose) to find out how many thought Linda had paved the way for Tejano Music. Linda is Conjunto, which is the roots of Tejano, and I personally feel she should be recognized regardless. Anyway, let's shake hands! I don't believe in trashing anyone either.. Thanks!
