Let me start by saying i have some of their first cds, and thywere ok. Not bad, but not would you would call Classic either. This cd changes everything i thought of them. It is simply a Hard-Core Conjunto Fest!!! The improved greatly on this cd, and showed the conjunto world that they are one of the best groups around period. The highlights of the cd were, "Tengo Penas", "Companera", "Compas Delarosa" and a few others actuallythe whole cd is great not a bad track on here. It even includes Tony's classic polka "Carmela" for all you polka lovers out there. This is a tremendous conjunto cd, if you dont have it get, and if you already have it put it on right now and crank it up!! Final Grade A+
I bought this cd cause i heard a song i liked on the radio. I really didn't know what to expect. Well to my surprise, it has been one of the best cd's i have gotten in the past year. A++
I was wondering,if they used to back up Linda Escobar for a while a few years ago. I remember going to a Linda dance and i think they played to. They played really good, if it was them. Can anyone confirm that they use to help Linda out?
Los Arroyos Del Rio is a "CLASS ACT" Conjunto! Their last CD is definitely an A+ production. And they have another one that's coming out REAL soon that I hear is top notch as well!
Los Arroyos Del Rio are also a "show band" conjunto. They really rock the house down when they perform! My hat goes off to Tony & Naida Rios and their boys: TJ, Jacob, and Josh! Way to go, Guys!!!
p.s. Tony De La Rosa thought the world of them, may he rest in peace....Y que viva la musica de Tony De La Rosa, el mero rey de la accordeon!!!
Yes, Lucy! They helped me out when Kenji and I first started our conjunto. Josh Rios (Drummer of Los Arroyos) played at the Tejano Conjunto Festival with us when he was only 11 years old! He is now 18 and going to UTSA! Los Arroyos and I recorded a few tunes together as well: "No Me Amenaces" and "Un Dia A La Vez". They are a wonderful family and a TOP NOTCH Conjunto!!!
I was surprised by this group. The cd was awesome. I thought they had come out of no where, but now i know they have paid their dues throughout the years. Good Luck and I am awaiting their next work.
Good afternoon to all Conjunto lovers and Canasta Records! Allow me to first-THANK EACH & EVERY ONE OF YOU & Canasta Records for your wonderful comments & compliments in reference to our last CD-Los Arroyos Del Rio/Compas DeLaRosa. It was thru perseverence and determination that the album was completed and incredibly won STCA 2005 "Album of the Year" award.
I-(MOM to the guys) have to agree w 76 that our first cd's were "OK". Back in the days we had other members in the band and it wasn't until Josh-drummer; our youngest member of the band took the reins at the drums that things just really started to mold Los Arroyos style. TJ, JACOB AND JOSH truly began to feel the heartbeat as one. It wasn't much of a surprise since they are brothers accompanied by their dad but Tony & I just kept wondering "why'd we take so long to SEE THE LIGHT" lolol.....Not only was it rewarding to receive Album of the Year but it was so gratifying to connect with Don TonyDeLaRosa and his lovely wife Lucy thru the influence of our beautiful carnalita -Ms Linda Escobar. Los Arroyos Del Rio truly respect and admire Don Tony and ALL our pioneers who have sacrificed and paved the way in the Conjunto Industry. The guys feel it's so important to contribute to the preservation of our Conjunto Roots and they like to include it with a little of Los Arroyos Flare! They absolutely LOVE CONJUNTO MUSIC ALL AROUND.
Our next cd will include the rancheras, cumbia and bolero, but we also will feature TJ's favorite; the huapango-El Lucero! I am truly amazed to TJ's accordion licks on this huapango. We're excited to bring the cd to you and look forward to the completion of this project!
ps....Los Arroyos have accompanied Linda Escobar, Kenji (may he rest in peace)when the occasion has presented itself and jointly supported each other. My all time favorite tune with Linda and Los Arroyos is "Un Dia A la Vez". You just feel the "energy" with that tune!
My all around motto----------CONJUNTO MUSIC & FRIENDSHIPS....................................................PRICELESS!
Conjunto is coming back stronger than ever and we look forward to the Veterano Festival hosted by Ms. Linda Escobar which will be in November. PURO CONJUNTO-ALL NITE LONG! Mark your calendars!!
