Let me start off by saying that Sunny is not really hardcore conjunto, but if you like musica de acordion you would love his latest cd. I am just listening to it right now, and was kinda freaking out when i read the cd credits inside, and read that he also recorded the bass, ad Bajo sexto on the cd. I was like wow this kid is really talented. The cd has a good mix of rancheras and cumbias mostly and i think it was very enjoyable. Well just wanted to add my 2 cents. Thanks and i just got to say i really enjoy coming to this site and just talking about good ol musica de acordion which is my fav.
I disagree. I think that one should always value themselves because once you start playing for "publicidad" only, they keep you there. It's like my padrino Tony De La Rosa used to tell the promoters who wanted him to play for "publicity": Tony would say, "Lo que es la publicidad, la cebolla, la lechuga, y la calabaza, no importa que tanto les diga, no se la comen!" Dig?
And it's true! There are lots of expenses going on the road besides the gasoline. AND the danger of being on the road is also a consideration. Besides the band members need to be compensated as much as possible. It's a job not just a hobby!
There needs to be a medium between promoters and bands so that it can be a FAIR deal for everyone. That's my 2 cents worth from someone who's been in the business since when the snakes walked. LOL!
