I am here in Colorado, and have a small tejano/conjunto band, what i wanted to ask you expierenced musicans is should i invest on buying a sound system and run my own sound, or continue to rent the sound everytime i play? I need some advice, and i know this is the place to get it. Thanks for any advice. Bobby

hey bobby, i think if you play often and plan on playing for a few years to come you should invest in some nice equipment, but if you all are new to the music scene hold off a while. For one reason or another some bands dont stay together for too long. It just depends what your future plans and how committed you and your group are to playing. Remember also if you buy, you then can rent it out and run sound yourself for other groups, when you dont have a gig. Its a way to help pay for your system. Talk to your guys and see what their plans are aswell and then make your descion. Sound equipment can very expensive to take your time and dont rush to a descion right away. Hope that helps a little.

If you're serious about making a go of this, my advice would be to invest in a sound system.  In the long run, it'll be less expensive this way.  Depending on how much you charge a gig, it'll pay off for itself.  In addition, you have the gear for your rehearsals.

If you are looking into buying, look up squeezboxmaniac on the Reyes Accordions website.  Listen to his advice, he knows what he's talking about.  He is also a live sound engineer and can help you find what you mat be looking for as far as sound gear.

That's my advice, hope it was of some help.

Buy would be best. There is one guy in Kingsville who charges around $800, thats alot for a little group. There go all your earnings. If you all are serious about it then invest.
