All time great vocalist, Joe Ramos has passed away. He played for Tony DLR, Conjunto Bernal, Joe Ramos Y Ellos amongst other greats. He is considered by many to be the Greatest vocalist in Conjunto History. Another huge loss for our industry
A TRUE LEGEND! Boni Mauricio will be in the KROB 1510 am studios in Corpus which will also be broadcast in San Antonio to talk about it in a little while so tune in.
Rip in Joe. I was never really into Tejano or Conjunto music till I started listening to Conjunto Bernal in the 90's. I was amazed with the voices of Juan and Manuel and Paulino on the squeeze box. It was in the mid 90's or so that I heard a conjunto on the Radio that I thought was Bernal. It was Joe Ramos y Ellos. Joe Ramos and Beto Martinez on vocals and Niro Martinez on the Accordion. These fuys sounded just like Bernal. I saw them play in Laredo once and the people were so impressed no one wanted to dance. Everyone was standing on the dance floor and just admiring the band. Then I heard El Preso and Paloma Negra and I realized that Joe was infact the best singer to grace my presence.
