Please say a prayer for the family of Benny Layton who passed away from what we understand was a motorcycle accident in San Antonio yesterday. This is a huge loss for conjunto music! Benny Layton started playing as a kid from Edcouch, Tx. Leader of the famous Los Hermanos Layton. He also taught Conjunto music in Elsa public schools. May he rest in peace. The news of Benny Layton is extremely saddening, the valley has lost an inspirational person who dedicated his life to help others succeed whether that be through music, education, or life in general. I met Mr. Layton thanks to Channel 4 and I'll never forget his dedication, commitment and love to serve others by entertaining them with his musical talents or just being our friend. He will be missed by all near and far but for those of us who were blessed to know him, we know he made a real difference in our lives. The heavens have another treasure today!
