Good Morning Canasta Records!!!! Hope everyone had a great weekend....As for us, Mrs. Hustletown party was off the hook....Had a company called Party Monsters decorate the tables and they did a fantastic job, thank you Raul, the wife really loved the decorations.....

Now for the good stuff...Not only was my wife celebrating her birthday, but Houston's Powerhouse Avizo was celebrating their 25 yrs in the music business, they had a reunion of all their previous singers, with each singer coming on stage for a few songs....Gary Segura started the show, Mr. Rey Romero was next, followed by Rudy "Buga" Perales, these gentlemen jammed the first set playing everything from old school tejano, R&B, Funk, and some Salsa very impressive, the band consisted of Mr. Robert Dorantes (trumpet), Ralph Garcia (Keyboards, accordion), Lonny Lalane (trumpet), Sal Gonzales (trombone), Tory Trevino (Saxaphone), Sergio "Sarge" Salas (drums), Rick Rios (bass), Mike Garcia (Guitar)....I'll tell ya something, I had a blast, I got to meet alot of these guys that I grew up listening to...Yes, I was "old school"  tejano before I "discovered" conjunto.  The horn section really brought back memories of dancing cheek to cheek with a girl you just met... "promising furntiture and everything else you could think of"...LOL...had some very interesting conversations with Mr. Dorantes, Mr. Lalane, Buga...just the stories they told made the evening for me....

For the second set....They brought out Tracy Perez, Mr. Joe Earnest Puente (one of my personal favorites) and Mr. Chris "Q" Quiroga....what was impressive was the flexibility that the muscians exhibited, being able to go from tejano to R&B to Funk and not miss a beat was captivating...Truly shows the talent that our "RAZA" has....and to be able to do it in two different languages (nam bre!!) made me proud to be chicano!!! Orale !! Que viva la Raza!!!, sorry got a little out of hand there....LOL...Highlight of the evening was "Q" finishing off the set and the show with paying homage to el grupo MAZZ and THE LATIN BREED...just thinking of it brought goose bumps on my arms....Overall el grupo AVIZO, showed why they are two time GRAMMY nominees, pure brass with class....hasta next week, aye los wacho....
