Disclaimer: Even though I consider Rick De La Rosa a good friend....I realize that I have to be objective with this review, I cant be sucked in by our friendship, and I gotta tell it like it is.........
THE D BOYZ kicked ASS!!!!!!!!
There is no better way to describe what went on inside Maks Icehouse on Sunday night, the band laid it down....Mr. De La Rosa on accordion (the man played so hard his arms were cramping up)...our very own Rick De La Rosa on bass....what can I say? he played his heart out!! He literely left his blood on that stage (fingers bled) Jason Lara on drums...there is not much that can be said about Jason, he laid it down like he always does, thats why he is one of the best drummers in conjunto...I sat there and watched him learn a country song on the fly, very impressive....Adan De La Rosa...Mr. Steady on the Bajo...great performance...look forward to seeing you again next weekend....the gentleman that did la segunda voz/cowbell, i didnt get his name, but great job also....just one thing.....we need more COWBELL!!!! LOL....well the crowd was truly into the band, and the D BOYS delivered....there was a guy yelling CUMBIA!!! , cumbia he wanted!!! cumbia he got!!! 7 of them in a row!!! andale cabron!! you asked for it!!! Most memorable songs of the night for me were a very inspired rendition of "PALOMA NEGRA", MI ULTIMA BORRACHERA, did a great job with MIRE AMIGO, CUARENTA ANOS and of course they played Mr. Tony De La Rosa's biggest hits.....They closed the show with "EL MUCHACHO ALEGRE", but I was more like el "muchacho triste" because the show was over...great job D BOYZ....just one request.....Next time, dont take a year to come back to Houston....I think it was obvious how much you guys were missed.....
P.S. Special thanks to Mr. De La Rosa for signing my accordion....that thing is looking better all the time....
TRES, your next....bring your A game compadre, cuz the D boyz sure as hell did.....til next week....aye los wacho....
Wanna thank you guys for the kind comments, knowing that you guys enjoy reading these reviews is what keeps me wanting to write them....Gracias desde el fondo de mi corazon....Hustletown......
