I spent most of the day struggling with "should we go?"....Finally my better half says "damn, you change your mind more than a person with multiple personalities" so....we said damn it....lets go....all of "US"....jeje....anyway....showed up at Maks around 5:30, was welcomed by that familiar oroma of BENGAY and ICY HOT.......If you have been there, then you know what I am talking about....First up was Corpus Christi's own...LA KREAZION....
These guys fit the above description.....(multiple personalities) not the band members them selves, but the band as a whole....what I mean by that is this....In their first set, they were jamming, had a good beat and a good rythem goin', everyone was really into the music....the second set....well it seemed as the music got slower, and as they got slower so did the "ambiente" old folks were moving and dancing like old folks...that was not the case in the first set....but as a whole these guys are good, great people (as most conjunto's are), if they could just find that magic that they had in the first set and put it in a bottle and drink that instead of budlight, then they could really become one of the elite conjuntos out there.....
Next up was LOS IV DEL BARRIO.....
If you look up the word "ENERGETIC" in the Conjunto dictionary, you might find a picture of these guys in there. From their intro "low rider" to the very last note of thier 1st set, these boys were on fire, they really energized the crowd, got the most "gritos" of the night, and the most applause. You guys remember this name "CHRIS GARCIA" this young man tore it up on his gabanneli....very impressive....the second set...wow, what can I say? These guys played for an hour straight!!!! no stoppage, i saw die hard dancers coming off the dance floor sucking wind, I wish I had an oxygen bottle there, I would have raked it up....5 dollars for a hit of Oxygen...nombre!!! But you could include me in those suckin' wind....what I noticed is that these boys fed off the crowd...if they played a cumbia, and the floor was full of dancers, they would play another, and if no one got off the floor....OTRA!!!!....they were in "SYNC" with the crowd, and gave us exactly what we wanted....Puro Pinche Conjunto!!!!
over all...had a great time, 2 good bands, and alot of cold budlights....doesnt get any better than that....
