I guess I have been lucky in a sense that every conjunto that I have gone seen have always been good guys and appreciative of the support that is given to them, you know you are appreciated when they actually know you by name and come over to say hello....those are the genuine good guys....Now, not to rock the boat, but how famous can a conjunto band be? will they ever sell out stadiums? will they ever have so many fans that you cant remember a face in the crowd? I dont think so, so this is where it is important to say hello, to acknowledge someone with even a simple gesture, your fans will appreciate it, and keep supporting you and your band, sometimes, its just the little things that mean so much....
To joey i thank u 4 ur comments, its i truely beleive sum people just need 2 learn how 2 speak up an say whats on there mind.God gave us a mouth 2 speak so use it well an if they dnt like it..well theres more muscians out there....An for Vato i here where ur coming from cuz without the Fans Musicians r nuthing an cant get that green in there hand...thats y i stated that i personally do it for the love of it,not for the money but does help out with a bill or 2..I respect what u have 2 say cuz its straight up Facts.....an cant nobody disagree unlest there the ones who r doing it for the money...i hope that i dont upset anyone cuz that is not what im doing here but if u want 2 take it in a wrong way im sorry but i like to speak the truth...
i am doing it for the money but that doesn't mean i do not appreciate the fans and do all i can to make them happy and to learn their names. like I said, I went to school and earned a degree to do this for a living and this just happens to be what I love to do. but just because I'm a paid professional musician doesn't mean I'm an ass or am less of a musician for it. It means that I do take this seriously as a provider for both my family and our fans.
Well, there are many different point of views on this matter. I've been playing accordion for 17 years dedicated years, recorded albums, played for thousands of people and yet didnt have anything to show for it. Yet, although I have a real job as you call it, I still miss playing like I use to. Its sad that all those years I dedicated it still wasnt enough to sustain a realistic income. In my opinnion, something has to change in the industry.. It should go back to the days when talent was something musicians strived for like Paulino Bernal, Oskar Hernandez, Steve Jordan just to name a few.. Now a days music has to be arranged in its most simplest form just for someone to take notice..
Part of the problem is the band leaders having their nose up in the air, And think just because they are some what popular they have all these other people that want to play in there group. So they just get a new member when problems about money start and it works until the new member ask for more money and than its next one in line.
