I've been visiting this site for the past few months and couldn't help but to feel the true love for conjunto music on this forum. I understand very well the idea of respecting other genres of music, however, I also believe it is important to promote and have pride in the particular genre you like...such is the case in this forum. In any event, the reason I am writing is as follows:
Many times I've read posts where people are talking about different dances going on throughout the Lone Star State, Corpitos, El Valle, Houston, San Anto, etc, etc. ..... and let me tell all that are within driving distance of these dances " YOU ARE DARN SURE LUCKY". As I read about the conjuntos that will be playing, the old as well as the new up and coming, I get chills. I live in Califas, and Conjunto Music is very much alive here in Central Cali; we have are own local talent that we like to brag about (shout out to Conjunto Califas), and every opportunity we have to support them, we are there. Sometimes, though, we have a conjunto drought, which you'all in Tejas don't seem to have, in fact it seems you all have a continues Conjunto Hurricane!!!!! Every now and then El Huracan makes it to Cali. My point is, support these artists that go on stage and produce Conjunto music. Don't pay no mind to the price of admission, if you like what you hear, pos orale, entrale y no hagas preguntas. You all have a priceless gem in your own home that we can only see from afar and from time to time, get to see up close; Nevertheless, we love it the same.
I wish all of you a blessed New Year, may all your wishes come true and all your loved ones be blessed with good health. Keep it true and don't compromise; learn to appreciate the musical brethern, but not at the expense of your own music. Respectfully, jgb Central Cali.
Hey jgb, I live corpus and i never really thought of it like that. I do feel really lucky to go to all these dances and met all these artists. Hopefully soon conjuntos will start going over there, preforming for you guys like they do here. Have a great new years!

Being in Ohio i can relate with jgb, we can't get the music you all do down there and it makes me jealous sometimes to see all these great dances happening all the time. Well hopefully we get something over here to. Ohio needs more conjunto music lol. Have a great New Year's
Hi Jgb, ya as a conjunto lover in south texas i think i am very lucky. I love my south texas music, and i am glad to have it. I hope it spreads more in Cali, cause there is alot of conjunto lovers out that way. Have a good man and welcome to the board.
