I will start of by saying this cd is very good. One of the better new groups to come out in a while. They have a original sound to them that is like a breath of fresh air. Most of the songs are all originals. Highlights include Mi Error, Pobre De Mi Corazon, and Con Mi Guitarra En La Mano. This is a cd i would recommend to all conjunto fans. Very good crisp sound to them that i think fans of all ages will enjoy. If anything the only negative is that i would have liked to hear a polka or two. Not much else to complain about. Very good cd. Final Grade A
Niko and David, I know track four is Coco for sure. And I would have to say two also him being that it's the same voice. Both Oziel and Coco can sure carry a tune. Conjunto Con Todo's, "El Inicio", rates an 'A' in my book.
I just heard the cd and wow i never realized Coco does sound like alot of the great Conjunto Bernal vocalists who were without a doubt the greatest collection of in history. He could have fit right in.
Well if i am not mistaken Coco used to help out the Conjunto Vidal out of Kingsville which were a very heavy Conjunto Bernal unfluenced conjunto. Their voices were just amazing. It kind sucks that they (Vidal) play norteno now. It's possible Coco picked up that style while with them.
Jorge Coco Vasquez is really a tremendous vocalist. Like others have said he could have fit right in with the great Conjunto Bernal vocalists. I can see this guy up there next to Juan Sifuentes, Manuel Solis, and Cha-Cha Jimenez. He really needs to sing more, and that's no dissrespect to Osiel cause he can hold his own with anyone.
I am glad he is finally getting recognized for the great vocal talent this man has. I think being compared to the "Bernal Greats" is the highest compliment a conjunto vocalist can get.
If i was putting together a Conjunto Bernal type band the three vocalists i would chose are as follows. Jorge Coco Vasquez, Issac De Los Santos, and Tornardo from Edgar vasquez. Those 3 are the best vocalists in conjunto music bar none.
You know i liked the cd and jammed to it many times but a i never listened to it closely enough. When i started reading the posts about what a great vocalist Coco was i went back to hear some of those songs. DAMN! that boy can sing his heart out!!! Why doesnt he sing more?? Osiel is good but Coco has the potential to be an all time great. His voice is so soulful and he makes you feel the emotion.
He is a great singer. His vocals are top notch. As good as those other guys (Greg P. and Tony Saenz) are with the new Conjunto Con Todo, Coco given the chance might turn out to be the best vocalist of the bunch.
I predit Coco is going to be the Breakout conjunto star of 2008! Remember you heard it here first. This guy just needs a chance on his own to show the conjunto world what he has got!
Hey guys let's not forget his Bajo Sexto skills as well as his drumming. His drumming style resembles that of legendary conjunto drummer George Martinez who played for Tony De La Rosa, Angel Flores, Ruben Naranjo, Alfredo De La Rosa amost others. His bajo sexto skills are also off the charts. His style reminds me alot of Juan P. Moreno.
If you think about it he is the Prototype for what a conjunto musican should be. He can play multiple instruments, and play them at a very high level, along with having one of the best voices in the tejano/conjunto world. For those people that call Jay Perez the voice appartently they never heard Coco sing.
He's one that does not get the attention he deserves because all the conjunto's he is always in he is always surrouned by big names. Give a him a chance to do his own thing and i know he would be a Mega-Star.
Hey guys i want to add my 2 cents to this topic. I agree with everyone that says Coco needs a chance to breakout. His talent is undenialable. He can play Bajo Sexto, Drumms and can really tear the house down with his vocals. Aside from all that he is a hell of a nice guy. Very friendly and out going with his fans. I wish he would step out of the shadows of the other stars he is always with and show us what he can do standing own his own 2 feet. I think what the other poster said Coco will be the breakout star of 2008!
One of the best artists out there. All he needs is a chance. His voice is amazing. I agree you needs to sing alot more. Also one of the top conjunto drummers and bajo sexto players on the planet!
Coco is an awesome vocalist and i hope to see something by him(own conjunto) one of these days. Bernal like on his vocals, it don't get better than that.
