Just wondering i play guitar and want to play in a conjunto band. Can i use the guitar in a conjunto instead of a bajo sexto? Do any groups use a guitar instead of a bajo? Thanks in advance.
The only conjunto i ever heard it used for is el conjunto de Henry Zimmerly from San Antonio. I am not sure if Elgio Escobar used to play the guitar or bajo with his conjunto either, maybe Linda can let us know later. Also I remember seeing Chano Cadena a few times with Tono Vasquez playing the guitar instead of a bajo sexto. Like GB said it can be done but it is very rare and sounds different.
