I have an intersting Discussion question. David Lee Garza(Los Musicales) is considered one of the Best acordion Players around. Is his music considerd conjunto? What is you all's overall thoughts on him and his music? I happen to like some of his songs.
Hey Mistico, I think David Lee is more what is called Conjunto Progressive because he uses A sax and a Keyboard along with the traditional conjunto instruments. As for as an acordion player he is very good. I have heard him play some old school conjunto jams and he plays them excellent.
Even though he is an awesome accordion player,and we have a lot of respect towards Mr. David Lee Garza, The South Texas Conjunto Association does not consider David Lee Garza a hardcore conjunto band. We consider conjunto like Gilberto Perez Y Sus Compadres, Edgar Vasquez Y Sus Muchachos, Mando Y La Venganza, Los 4 Aces, Los Dos Gilbertos, Ruben Vela Y Su Conjunto, Conjunto Express and so on.
However, if the people want to nominate Mr. David Lee Garza as the Conjunto Accordiionist of the Year, they have the right to do so.
