I received the sad news last night that Oscar Serrata, owner of Supremo Records, who had a stand at the C.C. Trade Center, passed away yesterday. I had the privilege of working with Oscar in the 80's, on three albums, when I had my group ZAMEN. He was always a jokester; always had a joke or just something funny to say to make you laugh! His birthday was the same as my dad's: Dec. 1st. I just can't imagine going to the Trade Center and not seeing him there anymore. That is going to feel really sad! I pray for his family and friends during this difficult time. May God rest his soul in His glory.
The hardest thing to accept is the way he left this world. He had been real sick of diabetes, then he got a virus infection that forced him to be in the hospital for 4 weeks and lost 40 pounds. When he came out, he was so thin and frail. I guess he just couldn't take it anymore; perhaps he wanted us to remember him the way he was when he was healthy. So he took his own life. Isn't that so sad? I'm pretty much in shock, guys! I can only imagine how his family must feel. May our Lord Jesus give them peace and strength. Amen.
