I see alot of great groups around but they all tend to stay to their areas, example Houston groups stick mostly to Houston, 361 and Valley groups the same thing.Rarely do they ever venture to far away from their area code. I think they would be good for different areas to bring in different groups. That's my idea, what do you all think? Let's discuss this issue
Traveling costs money (especially with the high rise in gas prices and the ****ty state of the economy). Clubs/bars don't want to pay, and people who are looking for music for quinceaneras or weddings don't want to pay either. everyone's just a cheap ass these days. sorry to be blunt that there's no other way to say it.
sometimes it costs money to make money....its not that people are cheap asses, well some are, but others dont know the bands because of the lack of publicity, I know most of the Houston bands around here, but I dont know many of the ones down south, because they never come up this way....
Maybe it's the lack demand in other cities,or the lack of being open minded about different styles..My taste in conjunto/tejano defined would be Houston Bands...I like some from the valley maybe 2 that I have heard about like they said there's really no way to know of all bands from each city. San Antonio likes their style,Corpus like theirs ,the valley likes theirs, and HOUSTON we LOVE our conjunto!. Everyone seems to like conjunto but has a different feel for it maybe it's the singer, accordion style, bajo riffs, gritos,no gritos,growls..the way they hit the drums.. And I'm sure money has a lot to do with it. But I know some bands that play from the heart..which is the most important..no matter what the payment they love what they do and go out there and give 110% !
