Sorry for not posting last week, actually stayed home and relaxed, got the kids ready for the back to school thing....
Showed up at Maks on sunday not really knowing what to expect....Playing were two bands that I had not seen live, but had heard their music before. Los Pekadores were the first, I actually had some of thier music, back in the day,....way back in the day...lol...they are a band that has been around a long time, back when I started listening to them they were comparable to the big guns in tejano music, aside from David Lee Garza and Roberto Pulido, it had been a while since I had seen a sax used in a band. These guys son veteranos and you could tell they have been around for a long time, they played very well together...
The one that I was most anxious to see was Micky y Sus Carnales...We had actually met Micky and Meme at BB wolfs on my B-day 2 yrs ago, we came out of the club to find that my Expedition had been broken into, we happened to be parked next to Micky and of course a conversation was started, I could go on forever about her conversation with the Stafford police officer that came out to take the report, but we will save that for another day, that evening she gave us a CD that they had just finished recording and I was like "this aint bad" for a girl......As for her performance at Maks, Micky truly did put on a good show, for a band that has only been together 4 years, I see a lot of good things happening for her, not only because she is one of the only female leads in conjunto, but because she is a tireless worker, and I think that she makes it a point that anyone that comes to her show will leave with a smile on their face. Case in point, my mother in law is a very reserved lady, she loves going to the shows with us, but never has she requested to have her picture taken with an artist, but to my surprise, she did Sunday night. Well as everyone knows Micky was named S.T.C.A. female vocalist of the year and she really showed off that voice on Sunday, she sang rancheras, cumbias, culebra's, country, and some raunchy ROCK N ROLL !!!! We left out of there with 2 signed Cd's, a smile on our faces, and satisfaction in our hearts, and Me with the thought of "THAT WASNT BAD" , and I will drop the "for a girl part"....Great show Micky!!!!
P.S. going to the Valley this weekend, so there might not be a review, unless I can sneak off to a show down there....til next week....aye los wacho....
