FRIDAY.....went to go see LOS ENMASCARADOS....I honestly dont know why these guys get so much flack on this site....but they put on a good show, especially impressed with the bajo player, and the bass , those guys really put it down....turn out for the show was dissapointing, but over all had a great time....thanks JD and the boys, you guys really played your hearts out....ease up on them fellas...i dont see none of you guys up on stage (that was for the ones who sign their posts "ananymous"
SATURDAY.......ooooooweeeeee....what can I say? LOS MONARCAS AND LOS TREMENDOS V.....lord have mercy....what a show!!!! This was the first time that I had seen Los Monarcas and I truly walked away impressed, great stage presence, great songs, one complaint though....turn down the volume on the bajo...still got the "ching, ching, ching" ringing in my head....LOS TREMENDOS V.....those boys lived up to their name....TREMENDOUS....the band has never sounded better, bajo, bass accordion, vocals, drums ok (mike wasnt there) but Red held it down....the night was electric, you could just feel the electricity in the air, they covered it all....all the T5 classics....the new material.....2 G'S......Great jobs guys!!!!
SUNDAY.....Quoting the great philospher, ISAAC DE LOS SANTOS, "is it sunday? or is it still saturday? I remember going home, #%$%^&*, going to sleep, waking up getting dressed and heading to Maks Icehouse....If you look up at the saturday review...I said T5 has never sounded better,....I was wrong.....the boys tore it up sunday night, when you can get people to stop dancing in the middle of a song to applaud a note being hit and held longer than most of us can hold our breath, then you truly have accomplished something, that was amazing bro.....look forward to seing these guys anytime they are in town, not only are the great musicians, but the are great friends, much love and may God Bless......
P.S. I heard Lazaro put on a great show at Bea's.... Tres, I promise to be there next time you are here in Houston.....
Que paso bro? Any new reviews on dances or cds? Your posts are always informative and alot of fun to read haha! Keep us updated on what's new in houston.
WOW....been to quite a few shows since the last reviews.....I did those because it was a 3 night party.....but since you guys insist......
May 9th---Mothers day celebration.....we attended Maks Icehouse...entertainment for the night was Mr. Ruben Delacruz y su conjunto....Music was tight, band sounded good, a little too much like the late great Ruben Vela, but over all a good show....my better half organized a dance contest for the people there, gave out some prizes to the ladies that participated....the 1st place winner was Julian from CONJUNTO PROMOTIONS and his partner.....Glad all the dancing in your room with a broom paid off bro....congrats....advice for the band....get your own sound and personality, its great to pay your respects to the "conjunto elders" but build your own legacy, leave us something to remember "YOU" by.....
May 16th---Ricardo Guzman y sus 3 aces....I manged to catch about a 15 minute performance from these guys once, and swore that if I had the opportunity to see them again I would....Glad that I did, they played alot of their older material, some of their current material and some material off their soon to be released CD....Ricky Guzman III really tore it up on the accordion (thanks for signining mine), the energy was great and the band played with alot of enthusiasm (big word) Mr. Guzman Jr.(dad) definately has a voice that can only be described as "UNIQUE"....Crowd danced all night.....
May 30th....Tony "Tigre" Saenz y su Rosa de Oro....talk about an allstar lineup....they had Mr. Robert Riojas on drums, Rey Arrizmendez on bass, Coco Vasquez on bajo, the "tornado" on accordion and of course Tony on vocals....I was really impressed with their "repertorio" covered a lot of material....as always had a great time at Maks, everyone there is so friendly....advice to Tony....get you a sound man bro....you spent too much time messing with the sound board....
June 6th....Mr. Boni Mauricio....the conjunto gangsta....this guy will only kill you with his kindness....lol.... (thanks for signing the accordion Boni) been following Boni for a long time, he is actually the reason that I fell in love with conjunto music, we celebrated his Bday, danced, had a few drinks with some good friends that finally took the time to come out....great evening, great music, great friends, it just doesnt get any better than that.....here is a pic of the accordion that is being signed by my favorite accordion players.....
If I had known that you guys enjoyed this I would have kept doing it, thanks for all the kind words....i will try and do this every week....depending if we go to a show...but we almost always do....thanks again....
