Looking through my Hometown Boys Collection and was putting together a mp3 playlist of all of Joe's Specials. I come to realize that I am missing #3. Can someone tell me what release that is on? Carlos?
Maniac i just went through my collection of Hometown Boys cd's and cassesttes and i don't have that one either. I will do some research and if i come across i will let you know.
I don't think Joe made a special#3.......I think he said it was a unlucky number and skipped it and went on to Joe special#4......Not for sure but remember him saying something like that when he went solo in1997....
I think Danny is right about not being a number #3. I heard him (Joe Martinez) mention something about it being unlucky and that he went straight to #4 on the cd "It's our turn" on MM Records. I am not 100% sure about this myth but it does make alot of sense. The first Joe Special was on Hacendia Records and the second was for MM, 4 was also MM Records. If anyone has more to add to this topic please feel free to comment.
I was Joe martinez's drummer when he went solo and remember him telling me he didn't do #3 cause it was unlucky number and if he ever made to #13 he would skip it and go to #14....Joe was a cool person to talk to and I was very honored and privilege to be on the same stage with such a talented fun loving person!!! He was inspiration to me and and to others and is dearly missed!
Danny thanks for the info. That cd Joe did solo was a true classic and still one of my all-time favorite conjunto cd's ever! You play great drums my friend. Do you currently play with anyone?
