Guys i have an interesting discussion question. When recording a cd should a group record nothing but originals, or do mostly classic cover songs? Me i would say maybe like 70% Classic songs and 30% originals. I have a thing for classics, but that is just me. What do you all think?
Me give me classics any day. I don't care if i heard them already a million times. I like to hear someones twist to a classic conjunto song. I saw it should be like 80/20 on the cd.
Classics are good, but I think original leaves it open for surprises. Take the CD El Inicio from Conjunto Con Todo; some oldies but goodies, but then some kick ass original material. So if I were to record a CD, I would have a mixture of both.
I say original. Maybe 1 or 2 songs on a cd classic. Original is how you can tell if a musician is good or not. Anyone sing or try to imitate somones old music. Writing your own lyrics and composing your own lyrics is the tricky part about being a musician. Thing is, you can write your own lyrics and compose your own music but the people have to like it too.....
